SMU Wi-Fi provides wireless internet access to anyone with an SMU computer account or those visiting Southern Methodist University (SMU) for business purposes who need internet access on their mobile devices.
In essence, SMU Wi-Fi allows students, faculty, staff, and guests to connect to the internet wirelessly while on the SMU campus. To access the internet, users can choose from three different wireless networks:
- smu-wifi: Likely the primary and most commonly used network for SMU affiliates with active accounts.
- eduroam: A secure, worldwide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. SMU affiliates can use their SMU credentials to connect to eduroam at other participating institutions, and visitors from participating institutions can connect to eduroam at SMU using their home institution's credentials.
- smu-guest: Designed for visitors to the SMU campus who require temporary internet access. This network typically has limited access and may require a guest account.
Connecting to SMU Wi-Fi provides access to online resources, email, and other services necessary for academic work, research, or business activities.
