How do I add a DNS record on Wix?

Published in Wix DNS Records 2 mins read

Adding a DNS record on Wix is a straightforward process. Here’s how you do it:

Steps to Add a DNS Record on Wix

  1. Locate the DNS Settings:
    • Log in to your Wix account and go to your site's dashboard.
    • Navigate to "Settings" and then "Domains".
    • Click the "More Actions" icon (usually represented by three dots) next to your domain.
    • Select "Manage DNS Records".

  1. Add a New Record:
    • Scroll to the specific record type you wish to add (e.g., CNAME, TXT, A Record, MX Record).
    • Click the + Add Record button next to the desired record type.

  1. Enter the DNS Record Details:
    • Fill in the relevant fields according to the instructions provided by your service provider.
    • Important: If you are instructed to use the "@" symbol in the Host Name field, leave the Host Name field blank in Wix instead.

  1. Save Your Changes:
    • Click the Save button after filling in the DNS record details.
    • A pop-up message will appear; click Save Changes to confirm your update.

Example Scenario: Adding a CNAME Record

Let’s say you want to add a CNAME record with the following details:

  • Host Name: www
  • Value: yourdomain.example.com

Here's how you'd do it on Wix:

Field Entry
Host Name www
Value yourdomain.example.com

After filling out these details, you would click Save and then Save Changes in the pop-up.

Key Points to Remember

  • DNS changes may take some time to propagate across the internet, so your changes might not be immediately visible.
  • Always verify that you have the correct DNS record information before saving.
  • If you have any issues, it's best to contact Wix support or your service provider.
