How do I replace an image in Word Online?

Published in Word Online Editing 2 mins read

Here's how to replace an image directly within Word Online:

  1. Select the image: Click on the picture you want to replace. This will activate the image and allow you to make changes.

  2. Access the Picture Format tab: Look for the "Picture Format" tab in the Word Online ribbon (it should appear once you select the image). Click on it.

  3. Choose "Change Picture": Within the Picture Format tab, find the "Change Picture" option and click it.

  4. Select your new image source: A menu will appear, allowing you to choose where you want to get the replacement image from. This could be:

    • From This Device: To upload an image from your computer.
    • Bing Pictures: To search for images online using Bing.
    • OneDrive: To select an image stored in your OneDrive account.
  5. Navigate to and insert the new image: Once you've selected your source, navigate to the desired image, select it, and click "Insert" (or the equivalent button depending on the source). The selected image will then replace the original image in your document, maintaining the original image's size and position.
