What is WCA medical?

Published in Work Capability Assessment 1 min read

The WCA medical, more formally known as the Work Capability Assessment (WCA), is a crucial part of the Universal Credit process in the UK. It determines the extent to which your health condition or disability affects your ability to work.

Purpose of the Work Capability Assessment

The main purpose of the WCA is to figure out what work-related activities you need to undertake to continue receiving Universal Credit in full.

  • Limited Capability for Work: If the WCA finds that you have a 'limited capability for work,' your work-related requirements will be adjusted accordingly.

In simple words, this medical assessment determines how much you are expected to look for and be available for work, based on your health.
