What is new skin called?

Published in Wound Healing 1 min read

New skin is called granulation tissue. This tissue forms as a wound heals, filling in the gap with new cells and blood vessels. It's characterized by a red, bumpy appearance.

Granulation tissue is made up of collagen, which is a tough protein that provides structure and strength to the skin. As the wound continues to heal, the granulation tissue matures and eventually becomes scar tissue.
