Published in YouTube Monetization 2 mins read

Joining the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) allows you to monetize your content on YouTube. Here's how to apply:

  1. Open the YouTube Studio app. You can also access YouTube Studio through your web browser at studio.youtube.com.

  2. Navigate to the "Earn" section. In the app, tap "Earn" at the bottom. On the web, find "Monetization" in the left sidebar.

  3. Click "Apply Now". This will initiate the application process.

  4. Accept the Base Terms. Click "Start" and follow the instructions to review and accept the YouTube Partner Program base terms. These terms outline the rules and regulations you must abide by as a YouTube Partner.

  5. Set up an AdSense for YouTube account or link an existing one. Click "Start" to begin this process.

    • If you don't have an AdSense account, you'll be guided through creating one.
    • If you already have an AdSense account, you'll be prompted to link it. Note: Ensure your AdSense account is active and in good standing.

Important Requirements Before Applying:

Before you can apply to the YPP, you must meet these eligibility requirements:

  • Subscriber Count: Have at least 1,000 subscribers.
  • Valid Public Watch Hours: Accumulate 4,000 valid public watch hours in the past 12 months.
  • AdSense Account: Have a linked AdSense account.
  • Compliance with Policies: Adhere to YouTube's Monetization Policies, Community Guidelines, and Terms of Service.
  • 2-Step Verification: Have 2-Step Verification turned on for your Google Account.
  • Active Community Guidelines strikes: Avoid having active Community Guidelines strikes on your channel.

What Happens After Applying?

YouTube will review your channel to ensure it meets the YPP requirements. This review typically takes about a month, but can vary. You'll receive an email notification about the decision.

After Approval:

Once approved, you can begin setting up monetization options for your videos, such as enabling ads and exploring other revenue streams offered through the YPP, like channel memberships and Super Chat.
